The Dublin Journey Day 1

Today is my wedding anniversary …52 years.

We only made it to year 25!

As I sit in the Toronto airport at the beginning of my lDublin Writers’ Festival adventure, I find myself ponderimg the coincidence of these two seminal life experiences beginning on the same date.

Although my marriage ended in divorce, there were certainly blessings over the quarter of a century of our relationship, including the birth of two wonderful children, a host of memorable celebrations, and a family equine business that grew into a nationally respected training, showing, and breeding operation.

II was actually through the horses that I began my writing career, working as a freelancer for a national equine publication.

And now today, on the anniversary of the marriage that gave me my writing start i am hours away from boarding a plane and traveling to the land of my Irish ancestors…as an invited speaker at a writer’s festival in their capital city, and a featured author at one of Dublin’s oldest book stores!

WOOHOO!

They say God has a plan….well, I say it…actually a lot. Makes me feel as if there is someone trustworthy keeping watch.

Anyway, today I think part of that plan is about reminding me of the goodness of my life, even in times and circumstances that didn’t always seem great…like this morning when I got drenched in a downpour, lost my cell phone connection after crossing the Canadian border, got lost driving around trying to find my airport parking place, and had my flight delayed for two hours.

Where is the goodness you ask?

In that cavalcade of travel challenges that rivaled the best Hallmark Rom-com movie E.V.E.R.!

Can’t wait to meet the good looking guy who will be sitting next to me on our loooong transatlantic flight!
